backyard landscape ideas with ponds
spring has sprung here in phoenix!
Spring fever? Us, too! If you hate being cooped up on a Spring day, take a moment to go outside and sit by your pond. Even a little time spent there in the evenings will help alleviate this pesky affliction.
If you're one of the lucky souls who has their own water garden, you can easily take advantage of its cooling magic during the dog days of Summer, too. You can swim in a large pond (don't worry, the fish won't bite). And even with a smaller pond or re-circulating pondless stream, you can dip your toes into its refreshing waters. A pond cools the air around it so enjoy the whole atmosphere!
people & ponds
Water gardens pull kids outside, away from the TV and video games. Mom and Dad get to spend relaxing time watching their children and catching up on the day's events. Couples young and not-so-young take time to actually talk to each other. We’ve even had clients tell us that we saved their marriage!
pets and ponds
Ponds and streams aren't just entertaining for the two-legged household members. Water features can entertain the WHOLE family! And they can provide a healthy, organic water source, as well.
pool vs. pond
While it's not necessarily a choice between the two, as they can absolutely be a compliment to each other, a recreational pond can be a great choice! And if you have a "cement pond" that's not looking too good these days, it can be transformed into a Koi pond.
And then, of course, there's all the cool fish! You can have Koi, fancy goldfish, and even game fish under right circumstances. Did you know that fish are even MORE active on warm nights? Another good reason to spend a little evening time by the pond.
Worried that a pond will be a high maintenance landscape choice? Not so! A well-built pond, waterfall, and/or stream will provide hours and hours of enjoyment, while taking only minutes of maintenance per week. Heck, we even have a service that can handle that for you!
And if you're concerned about water savings, you might want to rethink that patch of lawn. Not only does a comparable sized water garden use less water than a lawn, but it doesn't require mowing, fertilizing, de-thatching, or weed-wacking, and doesn't cause air or noise pollution. Now, you can't play football on it, but we're not talking about sports here, we're simply addressing the enjoyment of your outdoor environment and your ability to relax in it. By the way, dogs will poop on granite, they don't really REQUIRE a patch of grass for that activity.
