DID YOU KNOW?
The Industry is plagued by 80% Failure Rate on first-year ponds.
A lamentable fact in the
industry is that 40% of the ponds and waterscapes built by both
professionals and amateurs do not ever function properly. And another 40%
that do work initially stop working in less than a year after installation.
Why the high failure rate?
The problem arises
when professionals who have knowledge of one industry cross over into
another that they know little about. Pond design and installation requires
knowledge of water chemistry and quality, flow rates, bacteriology, aquatic
botany, ecological balance, pump sizing, filter capacities, construction
methodologies, and much more.
Green Industry Magazine, Jan. 2008
98% of the Pond Gnome's
200+ built ponds since January 2000 are still being enjoyed. For substantiation of that statement,

Paul Holdeman, a Master Gardener, has
been a licensed Valley landscape contractor since 1995. After
receiving his B.A. from ASU, he has attended numerous courses on various
facets of landscape and gardening, including being a Certified Desert
Landscaper by the Desert Botanical Garden, and classes at the University of
Arizona Cooperative Extension, the Arizona Landscape Contractors'
Association, and the Arizona Municipal Water Users' Association, as well as
continuing education courses given by other pond experts. This keeps
him up to date on the latest research, development and technologies.
In addition, he is a top Aquascape contractor, a senior C.A.C.
(Certified Aquascape Contractor), and has actively participated in the C.A.C. program since its
inception. |
 Barbi

landscape design, and attends many of the same continuing education courses.
Barbi is usually the one you will find at the other end of our phone line,
as she concentrates her energies on promotion, marketing, and
administration, as well as raising her active 11-year-old son, Parker.
She's the chief promoter and organizer of the annual charitable

Our community
involvement includes helping schools plan and install wildlife habitats to enhance their learning facilities through the
Ponds for Kids Program.
Our ponds have
been approved by
Arizona
Game &
Fish as
refugia for some endangered species, including the Red Rock Gila Top Minnow,
which fish is a vital element in melanoma cancer research, allowing them to
live and breed in a protected, healthy environment.
